August 9, 2018

For the past several days, Bethel Church has served as a Salvation Army Distribution Center, providing supplies and assistance to the local Shasta County community.

As of Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 9:00am, the Distribution Center will be moved offsite to the Salvation Army located at 2691 Larkspur Lane. All donations and picking up of needed items by Carr Fire victims are now at that address.

The Distribution Center will be open from 9:00am - 4:00pm on Saturday, closed on Sunday, and open Monday - Saturday, 9:00am - 4:00pm. We are thankful to have had this opportunity to serve in this capacity, and are pleased to continue to serve in other ways within the community.

Bethel Becomes Distribution Center for Salvation Army

July 29, 2018

Schedule Update: The Distribution Center is now open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, and Sunday 2pm-7pm.

Our hearts are with families in our local community who have lost loved ones, lost homes, or have been displaced by the Carr fire. We want to update you on the role Bethel Church has been asked by the city to provide and what we are doing to come alongside our community.

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, Bethel Global Response met with the Red Cross and city officials about how we could partner with their efforts in the city and communicated that we’d love for them to use our College View campus however they saw fit. Due to our proximity to the fire and the limited accessibility of our College View campus, we are not a primary choice as an evacuation center. We wanted to meet the need, but had to do it safely and with permission. Instead, we were asked to assist with: providing supplies and volunteers to distribute food at the Shasta College Evacuation Center, search and rescue efforts, and staying available to city officials and other agencies for any needs.

On Sunday, July 29, 2018 we were invited to become a Distribution Center for the Salvation Army, and will open our doors at 9am tomorrow (July 30, 2018) at our College View campus located at 933 College View Drive. We will be open to the public from Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, and Sunday 2pm-7pm, until we are advised there is no longer a need. Moving forward, Bethel Global Response, our disaster relief team, will be providing the following support and services to the Redding community at the Distribution Center.

During the Sunday’s preparation to be a Distribution Center, Jordan Pacilio, Director of Bethel Global Response, said this about the team, “This is the first time we have provided disaster relief efforts while also being directly impacted by the disaster ourselves.”

The Distribution Center is located at 933 College View Drive. The general public can pick up what is needed at the Distribution Center daily, Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 2pm-7pm.

Our Bethel Global Response team is working, along with relief organizations like the Red Cross and Salvation Army, to bring healing and hope to Redding, and our church family is praying for the miraculous to happen in our city to stop this fire. Assistance

We are incredibly blessed as a church by people all around the world praying for us, donating and supporting our community here in Redding. The generosity of gifts coming towards us is both humbling and much needed. Christians around the world are coming together and supporting a cause that is bigger than any one individual alone can carry.

When we first made the decision to give a financial gift for the people in our city who had lost their home, the numbers being reported were 150-200 homes. Within just three days, that number had climbed to over 1000 homes, and the amount we had expected to raise and give went from $200,000 to over $1,000,000 dollars. This was a step of faith for us to say “yes” to this commitment, $200,000 was a challenge, but doable in our own strength and resources. But $1,000,000 is a God-sized step of faith. We are believing Him for it, and are now in the process of reaching out to our friends around the globe to be the hands of Christ to our city in this moment. We are determined to honor this commitment, whether the generosity comes from gifts from the global community or from our own church finances.

It is our desire to offer a $1000 gift of assistance to residents who experienced the loss of both home and possessions because the home they were residing in was destroyed. This gift is intended to assist with emergency needs such as food, gasoline, air filters, etc. We are able to give one gift per home lost (not per person), to the people that were living in the home during the Carr Fire.

Who Can Access Assistance?

  • Home must have been your primary residence that you were currently living in
  • Home must be listed on the Housing Authority report as 50%+ destroyed
  • One gift per home (even if multiple people were living in the home)
  • Both owner occupied homes and renters who were living in the home are qualified

Who the Gift Is Not For

We are not able to provide financial assistance for those who lost their vacation home, 2nd home, or rental properties. Only those who were living in the home as their primary home qualify for assistance.

If you meet this criteria and would like to register for assistance, please click the link below. Please note that you will be required to provide and upload a valid Photo ID and verification that you lived in the home (such as a utility bill, mortgage, lease, or insurance statement). REU and PG&E will provide you with a copy of your July bill by email.

We appreciate your patience with us as we try to help – this will take time. This project has grown beyond our original expectation, and we are taking necessary steps to insure that someone doesn’t misappropriate or abuse the gift that was intended for victims of the Carr fire.

Application Deadline: September 21, 2018 — NOTE: The application deadline for this assistance has now passed. We are thankful that so many people from the community were able to receive this gift, and wish them all the best in the healing and recovery process.

Verified recipients for the assistance will have the choice of receiving the $1000 in Visa gift cards (purchased from Walmart, but spendable wherever Visa cards are accepted) or direct deposit.
