No Longer Addicted to Drugs

June 1, 2024
A man receives prayer and experiences radical transformation which results in freedom from drug addiction.

A man shared that something significant happened to him, although he did not fully realize it until about three weeks later. While exploring KV Ministries online, he came across a video titled, "Prophetic Culture" and recognized that it accurately reflected his own experience.

At the time of the encounter, he did not know Kris Vallotton. He had attended a church service in February while struggling with drug addiction. Following surgery in November, he had been prescribed an excessive amount of medication, which contributed to his decline. He was using cocaine and marijuana and felt physically and emotionally exhausted.

During the service, his wife pointed out Kris Vallotton. Afterward, he approached the prayer team, hoping to receive prayer, still unaware of who Kris was. During their interaction, Kris spoke about living supernaturally so that others encounter the Father through believers, and about recognizing the “gold” in people. As they made eye contact, the man experienced a profound connection unlike anything he had known before. Kris prayed for him, specifically breaking chains of addiction and the belief that his identity was that of an addict.

From that day forward, although he experienced occasional temptation, he no longer felt the compulsion to use drugs. A few weeks later, while watching the Prophetic Culture video, he was reminded of the biblical account in which Saul encountered the prophets and was changed into another man. He realized that, in a spiritual sense, a similar transformation had taken place in his own life—not a physical change, but a restoration of identity as the burdens and distortions that had defined him were removed.

He described a sustained awareness of God’s presence since that moment and called the experience life-changing. His relationships, particularly with his children, had been restored and strengthened. Having struggled with drug use since the age of 16, including heroin use in his early 20s, he now understood that addiction was not his true identity.

Reflecting on the book of Romans, he expressed a renewed understanding that his old life had been put to death, and that it was his responsibility not to return to it. He also recalled a statement from Kris Vallotton, “You can’t fight a dead person,” which deeply resonated with him.

He described the transformation as a complete miracle. His life had been radically changed, and he now actively ministers to others. Although he had not gone to the service expecting anything extraordinary, he later came to believe that he had received a profound spiritual impartation. The experience left him with a deep sense of gratitude and excitement for what God had done in his life.
