In 2024, a woman lost her son at the age of 49. Being 72 herself, she found the time following his death to be the hardest season of her life though she had a great support system and church. She listened to Pastor Bill's sermons while driving, and had been making every effort to worship through the grief.
Mother's Day was very challenging for her, and she was dreading the anniversary of her son's death along with the trauma surrounding his death. She felt compelled to attend a meeting in Texas at which Pastor Bill would be speaking. At the end of his sermon he asked for anyone who had a deep loss to stand, and proclaimed three or four times that "the dark affliction of the soul ends today," and directed the person behind each one standing to symbolically lift a black, iron weight off their shoulders. She knew something happened but didn't feel any different.
As she slept that night, however, Jesus put all the shattered pieces of her heart back together. She woke up that next morning with a worship song pouring from her heart and stepped into perfect peace. Almost every morning since then, she wakes up with her heart singing, and on the anniversary of her son's death, she woke to "All that's left is highest praises," from the song My God Did Not Fail.
