A man went in for a physical and told his doctor that he felt well overall but had been experiencing a cough for a couple of months. X-rays revealed multiple tumors. After further testing, he was informed that he had three to six months to live. A doctor friend of his, who had connections with Bethel, told him, “You and I are going to Bethel Church in California.”
He went to the Healing Rooms, though he was initially skeptical. While there, a woman prayed over him and said, “The Lord told me you’re an administrator.” She also shared additional words of knowledge, which gave him a sense of authenticity.
He later went to the prayer house, where he asked God for something dramatic to happen. Instead, he felt the Lord say, “Just rest.” He responded, “Lord, You made me an A-type personality,” but again sensed God saying, “Just rest.” The following day, Bill Johnson preached on faith. The man had never experienced a service where people cheered during the offering, and he began to laugh. When Bill invited anyone who wanted prayer to come forward, he responded.
A young woman approached him and said, “The Lord wants me to pray for you.” After praying for some time, she said, “The Lord said you’re supposed to rest.” She continued praying and added, “You don’t know what that looks like. What the Lord wants you to do is lie before Him with worship music, and He will come and put a blanket over you. I don’t know what that means, but He will come.” Bill also came to pray over him. The man wanted to share his testimony, but Bill told him, “No, just receive.” He prayed, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, “You will be healed,” before walking away.
His wife held on to those words. When he returned home, the elders from his church came and prayed for him, and he felt intense heat during the prayer. Afterward, he had a CT scan and was told he would hear back immediately. However, it took three days for his doctor to respond, as he was consulting with a radiologist. When the doctor finally called, he told the man to sit down and said, “The lung is clear; your tumors have resolved. The miracle is that there is no scar tissue in your lungs.”
The man later reflected, saying he wanted to talk about the word “miracle,” because he believed the Lord had healed him. Weeks later, he saw the doctor again, who recognized him. The man said, “I feel like I am a walking miracle,” and the doctor agreed. His doctor friend also confirmed that such a recovery could not be explained medically. His wife remarked, “This was a walking dead man. He was to die, but he is living. Instead of a funeral, we had a picnic!”
