Answered Prayer for Serious Illness

March 20, 2026
A man survives hepatitis, liver cancer, and a brain bleed as God powerfully answers prayer for him.

Early one year, a first-year Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry student learned that his father had a very serious type of cancer in his liver. Prior to this diagnosis, his father had already been diagnosed with hepatitis from his years as a drug addict—two life-threatening diseases. Doctors initially gave his father six months to live. In addition, he later discovered that his father had suffered a brain bleed and was being rushed to the emergency room, where doctors gave him less than a 50% chance of survival. When his revival group pastor heard about the situation, he brought the student on stage, and the entire school stood in agreement with him, declaring "no" to death.

His father survived the first surgery, which in itself was considered a miracle. However, a second surgery was required. This time, only his dorm mates joined him in prayer as they stood against the situation. Despite surviving the surgeries, his father still carried the diagnoses of liver cancer and hepatitis, and the six-month prognosis remained. He needed a liver donor, but his condition had previously made him ineligible due to poor health. Following the brain surgery, however, his health improved significantly, making him eligible for a transplant.

Although he was ready for a donor, one had not yet been found. One night, while praying and speaking encouragement over the situation, the student’s roommate shared that he believed the father would receive a new liver. Within minutes, the student’s mother called to report that a donor had been found and that she was on her way to the hospital. Liver transplants are typically high-risk procedures with long recovery periods, often requiring months of hospitalization. Nevertheless, his father not only successfully underwent the surgery but was discharged from the hospital within two weeks.

At that point, doctors began referring to his father as a “walking miracle.” Within three months of the surgery, he had regained his strength. Through this experience, the student witnessed a deep sense of care for his family and saw how prayer and faith impacted their situation. This testimony, which is also supported with medical documentation, initially appeared to be a devastating circumstance but ultimately brought the family closer together and became a source of profound gratitude.
