A group of friends were in San Francisco when they encountered a man who was crying. They asked if he was okay and whether he would like prayer for anything. He shared that he wanted prayer because he had learned that morning that his sister had committed suicide. He explained that he had not spoken to his family in over a year but had felt compelled to call them for the first time, which was when he discovered the news.
During the prayer, the man began to feel deeply moved by the Holy Spirit and expressed a desire to be free from drugs, so they prayed for freedom from addiction over his life. He then rededicated his life to the Lord. One of them saw a vision of a triangle and asked what it meant to him. He responded with surprise, saying that he had been involved with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for six years and that the triangle was their symbol.
They shared with him that the Holy Spirit was showing that while AA has 12 steps to freedom, Jesus was offering him a one-step path to freedom that day. He was deeply touched by the encounter.
