Since 1987, Betty Lou and Al Bennett served with Mercy Ships. Al passed away August 2022, and Betty Lou continues the work they began.
In January of 1987, Al retired from business and they attended a Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), in Tyler, Texas. Since then, they served as Captain and Chief Steward on one of their ships, Good Samaritan, Al sailed other ships including Anastasis and Africa Mercy, and they worked in other departments with Mercy Ships once their years as Captain ended. They worked with major donor giving, with market level giving, and have shared our story with thousands. As a retiree, Betty Lou now feels called to pray for those who serve on the front lines in missions.
